はじめまして。Surf & Serve（サーフアンドサーブ）です。鹿児島県の高校2年生四人組です。
私たちは現在「サーフィンをしながらゴミ拾いをすることができる製品を開発すること」を目標にして活動しています。サーフィンとゴミ拾いが結びついたのは、私たちのチームのサーファーが、サーフィンをしながら海を漂っていたゴミをみたときに、「手にゴミを持ったままサーフィンはできないな。ゴミを拾いながら、サーフィンができたら良いのにな。」と感じた経験からです。事実、浜辺にたどり着いたゴミを拾うことより、海を漂っているゴミを回収するほうが難しいです。
『どこか1か所が頑張っても、海は変わらない』だから、私たちが向き合っているのは、鹿児島県の海だけではなく、鹿児島県の海と繋がっている、“世界の海”です。それは、地元を軽んじているからではなく、地元を出発点にして、地球のすべての海の現実と誠実に向き合っていくための選択です。
私たちは、この製品の利益を自分たちのためには一切使いません。すべてを海の環境保護活動と、生産に携わる人々の支援に還元します。高校生だからこそ、利益を循環させ、海と人をつなぐサステナブルな海への貢献を提案していきます。
私たちSurf & Serveは、サーファーの皆さまと「ずっとサーフィンができる世界の海」を守り、繋いでいくために活動していきます。
Nice to meet you. We’re Surf & Serve. We’re a group of four high school sophomores from Kagoshima Prefecture.
Our current goal is to develop a product that allows people to pick up trash while surfing. The idea of combining surfing and trash pickup came from an experience one of our team’s surfers had. While surfing, they saw trash floating in the ocean and thought, “I can’t surf with trash in my hands. It would be great if I could surf while picking up trash.” In fact, collecting trash floating in the ocean is harder than picking up trash that has washed up on the beach.
Even if one place tries hard, the ocean won’t change. That’s why we’re not just facing the ocean of Kagoshima Prefecture, but the “world’s oceans” connected to it. This isn’t because we disregard our local area; it’s a choice to start from our roots and sincerely confront the reality of all the oceans on Earth.
We will not use any of the profits from this product for ourselves. Every penny will be reinvested into marine conservation activities and supporting the people involved in production. Precisely because we are high school students, we propose contributing to a sustainable ocean by circulating profits and connecting the sea with people.
We at Surf & Serve are committed to protecting and preserving the world’s oceans so that surfers everywhere can continue surfing forever.
